Study Room for Drawings and Prints
Spanning over five centuries of works on paper, the collection of the Department of Drawings and Prints includes more than 21,000 drawings, 1.2 million prints, and 12,000 illustrated books and artists' books, as well as an extensive collection of printed ephemera. Throughout the year a rotating selection of objects from the collection is displayed in the Museum's Robert Wood Johnson, Jr. Gallery (gallery 690). Most works that are not on view may be examined by visitors in the Study Room for Drawings and Prints by appointment. Visitors are also welcome to consult books in the department's reference library on the history of drawings and prints. Partial holdings of this reference collection appear on Watsonline, the Museum libraries' online catalog.
The Study Room for Drawings and Prints is accessible by appointment to visitors who are at least 18 years of age. First-time visitors will be asked to register for use of the Study Room using some form of identification. Teachers and independent lecturers are also welcome to use the Study Room and the collection for classes and talks. Before making an appointment, visitors are encouraged to consult the online collection to search the department's holdings.
