Jevijoe Vitug

Philippine-born Jevijoe Vitug, painter, performance artist, community collaborator and museum worker lives and works in New York City. He received his BFA in Painting from St. Scholastica’s College, Philippines, and MFA from San Francisco Art Institute. His projects have been presented in various exhibitions and venues, including Shifting Sights/Sites: Re-imagining the Body and Place at Center for Book Arts (2021); Daydreamer’s Manifestation, Vargas Museum, Philippines (2019); Museum Mile at The Africa Center and El Museo del Barrio (2019); S.T.E.P. at the Queens Museum (2018); and the staff art show at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (2017). Vitug is a recipient of several awards including the New York Foundation for the Arts’ City Artist Corps Grant (2021), The Laundromat Project Creative Action Fund (2021, 2020), Queens Arts Fund New Works Grant (2021, 2019), The Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Thirteen Artist Award (2006), Art Association of the Philippines Leo Benesa Award for Art Criticism and Most Outstanding Kapampangan Award (2003). Vitug has been an artist-in-residence at Flux Factory (2017) and The Laundromat Project’s Create Change Program (2019).
